This effort is an attempt to organize twenty years of experience running post-traumatic stress disorder groups into a manual that offers a review of the principles and methods evolved over that time. It is concise, but touches the major issues. I wrote this for group members who want to continue their experience. Our group will soon be ending. This manual might provide a reference point for future direction.
For others it could illustrate a new approach. Most vets here speak well of their group experience. I have led more than 4000 group sessions involving perhaps 60,000 patient visits, so we are talking about a comprehensive sample. The numbers alone say something. Group has never become dull. We have never lacked for relevance. Perhaps that is our greatest legacy.
